Shinsegae Cheongdam SI Office project began in an attempt to consolidate its various offices scattered around Seoul in a single location near Dosan-daero in Cheongdam-dong. The Client described the images of the new building with such words as refined, elegant and stylish, and wanted to design a distinctive identity as the office building of the fashion company thereby enduring the test of time by preserving the modern and classic aura of the building. The building’s mass was able to host as many different programs as possible by planning them as boxes while extensive use of glass and metal would give it a unified aura throughout the building with some accents and solid impact on the façade realized by applying various patterns on the exterior. The lower and upper floors of the building will be applied with the stage concept with sliding metal fabric and metal curtains that would make a moving façade borrowed from kinetic art thereby helping it project its unique architectural identity.
